5:30 and I’m still home typing!
Decided to go in a little later today. I am not sure how all this blogging is suppossed to work….I thought that if I choose a Category for a post to fall under that it would show up there on that catagorie’s page. Apparently that is not the case, so…….the ” My daily rants ” page will always have my rants there vs being posted here. I will always let you know when there is something new on that page by announcing that I posted something there-just like today! Go see my latest RANT!
Almost 5:30! Boy the World can be really Cruel Sometimes!
I sometimes wonder why I keep doing this to myself. Oh, right….the money! Anyway, I just did a short post on Fanboy, so that’s something! Well, have to go put my socks and shoes on so……..I’ll see ya later this evening.
Good Morning World ( well not really! )
Another day, another sawbuck. Yesterday I came and crashed. Felt just terrible. Slept till dinner time. Coming down with something, just in time for the Labor Day weekend! Yeah!
What if my Morale Sucks?
Okay, as I said these rants have not been daily, but I’ll try to improve on that okay so lets get at it……
I’m not sure about the intelligence of the average workplace these days ( or at least my workplace ) when it comes to your average worker or in some cases not so average worker.
When a company invests in itself, wouldn’t you think that the first thing a company would do is invest in it’s EMPLOYEES!!
We were talking about the fact that the company I work for does not seem to want to do things like send workers who want to secure their place in their company and also secure their future, by sending them to school for training in areas like IT. My company is adding computers to their system and I was told that they don’t want ” Home Grown ” people to do things like work on the PC systems.
What a bunch of crap! In my company ( at least in my opinion ) I have become a wasted commodity that is only looked upon as being good enough to just do blucollar
( or factory ) work! How narrow minded and unresourceful that type of thinking is, never mind how detrimental that type of thinking becomes to the morale of the factory worker in general.
When I heard this statement, I just wanted to kick the teeth in of the CEO/Owner of this company.
Of course, this is the same person who thinks that giving an employee a quarter ( that’s right, .025 cents ) as a raise is just fine, while he drives around in his Mercedes going vromm vromm!
HEY JACK ASS!!
While your driving around in your Mercedes, I’m struggling to make my Utilities payment, my Mortgage payment, oh and how about being able to buy some GROOOOCERRRRIES!!!!
It’s not that I mind you driving your car, I mind you driving your car while you gas it up off my slave labor!
To any CEO/ Owner of a business that happens to be reading this post, please take note of the following….
First off….
A QUARTER, ( .025 CENTS ) IS NOT A RAISE!!
A QUARTER DOESN’T EVEN COVER THE COST OF LIVING!!!
And the other thing is….
THE BEST INVESTMENT YOU CAN MAKE IN YOUR BUSINESS, IS TO INVEST IN YOUR EMPLOYEES FIRST, YOU IDIOTS!!!!
Even if you only see your employees once in a Blue Moon, and you have several different business sites and or locations as my company does….know your workers! Know what they want! See how their MORALE is!! If their MORALE is NON-EXISTENT, you might want to take a look at what you could do to change that!!!
We’re not really asking for alot! Just some consideration for who we are and what we do for you and your company. Thankyou.
And that’s todays rant.
I hope it meets with your approval.
5:20 in the morning and I’m hating life right now!
And so my day and the beginning of a whole miserable bluecollar week begins.
My cat is outside crying in the rain-better go let him in….
Who the Hell I am – The Journey Continues!
Hi again. It’s a rainy afternoon in upstate NY, so with nothing better to do and finding this important enough to try to finish…..
Lets go back to the ” Big Birthday Party ” and the person I would eventually call ” DAD “…
As I said in the earliar post, Lou Scozzari would become the new ” Father Figure ” in my young adolescent life. Before I go further I want to state without hesitation that when I first met him, I didn’t like him. He would eventually grow on me, weither I wanted him to or not. I will talk about Lou in depth in a later post but just know that I will only use his ” First ” name in this section of the posting, for in truth Louis Scozzari was to become the person I would always call ” DAD ” and that’s all that need be said.
So, Lou wound up paying for the big bash. I wound up getting alot of birthday cards with alot of checks and most of that went back towards whatever Lou wasn’t,t able to pay for. All I know is, I was the MAN on this given day.
Soon after, thru several events, we wound up moving to upstate NY, Middletown NY to be exact. I remember telling kids in my class at school that I was moving upstate to Middletown, and most of ( if not all of my supposed friends ) thought I was full of it and that there was no Middletown, NY. Needless to say, I left them all behind and we all headed upstate. I was enrolled in the Middletown school system, where I would eventually get my High School diploma, have several girl friends, make some friends( who I have pretty much lost touch with ) goe into the service ( the Army to be exact ), get married to my first high school sweetheart, come back home to Middletown ( another story for another time ) and eventually start my Blue Collar life of servitude for the all might saw buck!
Okay this is the condensed version of events to lead to what I really want to devote this particular blog to, which is what it really means to be a BluCollar Worker.
Hello world!
Hi everyone and welcome to the first
I guess we should start out with a little bit of a ” Who the hell am I ” description so………
My name is Lew Newmark. I was born 49 years ago to Marvin and Jeannette Newmark in Brooklyn, NY. My birth parents separated about the time I was five years old ( please don’t cry for me Argentina ), and my mother raised me by herself for several years. Thanks Mom!
At some point in time a few years later, my Grandmother Lena Goldstein, came and lived with us. She would take care of me while my mother was working. A humorous tale about my grandmother in a future post.
Several years later, with grandma in tow, we wound up living on east 96th street in Canarsie. I was a pretty happy kid still at this point. I was going to school ( don’t remember which school at this point in time, I mean I am pretty old now you know ) coming home each day and doing the things that a typical kid at that age does. Of course that would change. One day, I believe that I was nine years old at this point in time, I would come home from school the way I always did, and knock on the door of the apartment to have my grandmother let me in. For some reason, this day she wasn’t answering the door. The landlady of the apartment house ( a kind old woman herself who’s name escapes me now ) would let me in. I went into my grandmothers bedroom to see her. I remember trying to wake her and I thought she was just very tired. I proceeded to go into my mothers bedroom and watch tv. Needless to say things changed after that day. My grandmother had passed away in her sleep, I would think rather painlessly.
Okay, more about an issue relating to this moment in my life in a later post. Lets move forward. I’m 11 and a half, my mother is dating this guy named Lou Scozzari and it’s about a year and a half away from my thirteenth birthday. Did I forget to mention that I am Jewish? Well the relevance here is that at thirteen, in the Jewish relegion on your birthday you have what is called a ” Barmitzvah “. It symbolizes in the jewish faith the boy becoming a man on this day. Anyway, it’s kinda like a large birthday party with family members and friends, and your the BIG KAHUNA that day. Well Mr. Scozzari would be the person who would help pay for this little shindig. He would eventually also become the person I would most look up to and be my father figure.
Well, I think that this will suffice for now. It’s just the beginning of who I am, but I will finish this up with more posts to follow.
Let me finish up this first post by just explaining when I will be posting and furthering this journey along…..
I will try to do a post at least once a day, usually in the evening after I am home from my ” Personal Working Hell ” and in between my other duties as Husband, Father, Son, and Full Time Entrepreneur! More on the ” Entrepreneur ” thing in future posts.
Most of the posting will happen on weekends, that’s when I have the most free time. Please note that I find the terms ” Weekend “, and ” Free Time ” very humorous even as I write them. LOL
Your Blue Collar worker
